How come when you talk to God it’s called prayer, but when God talks to you it’s called psychosis?

Does God exist?

I don’t know. This question just leads to more questions than answers. Faith is to have belief in something without proof, but people of faith say they see proof of God all around them. The difference from one person to another would be, how much faith does one have? God exists or God doesn’t. Personally, I go back and forth on faith in a higher power. Some days I see a miraculous world and life and say there must be some higher intelligence behind it all. Other days, I doubt. I need God to sit down in a chair in front of me, show me some I.D., do a few magic tricks and answer some questions.

The road to hell is paved with preachers heads

The cruel lash of religion was no help to have faith that God exists; In Genesis 22, the story goes, God tells Abraham to sacrifice his son on the alter to prove his faith. God intervenes and spares Isaac before Abraham kills him as he lay on the alter. What’s the lesson of this parable? The bible is saying, we must obey God without question. Ipso facto, we must obey the institution of religion without question. That’s real power to those who wield it! Religion plays off people’s fear of dying, being saved, who’s going to hell and who’s going to heaven. Growing up in a religious environment from birth, I was taught, this is who God is, and this is how we worship God. And every one I knew followed that dogma and method, parents, teachers, friends, that was my whole world, so I did the same. Either they were right or that’s called brainwashing.

I understand people who’ve had a hard life have difficulty with faith, or people born into an unfair heartrenching circumstances through no fault of their own, feel God has abandoned them, or people who have lost all through addiction and alcoholism think God has not answered their prayers. I know a lot of people who have come from such beginnings and have grown into amazing, extraordinary people as a direct touchstone to that pain. I dare say, they would not be the reborn people they are today if they hadn’t suffered so much. They are the people who never complain about things.

Let’s say, there was proof that God does not exist. It really doesn’t matter. What matters is my belief that God does exist. Because my belief in God will guide and inspire me to behave with principles throughout my life. My religion is spirituality. No one tells me how to worship God as I understand God to be. Let’s say I lead a life inspired by a higher power. I did the best I could to be honest, have integrity, be helpful, generous, patient, kind… And then when I died I found out there was no God afterall. God does not exist. Really, what have I lost? It sounds like a life well lived.

In the question, does God exist, it’s usually followed up with the next question/statement, if there is a God, why doesn’t God do something about all the bad things happening in the world? The answer is, God did do something about it. God made you and me.

If you don’t believe in God, believe in what inspires you.

If you’re looking for proof of God, these are the facts I know.

1. God is always in the present, never in the past or future. So keep your mind in now to see and hear God.
2. God speaks in very short sentences. there’s never a comma in God’s will. Sometimes God’s answer is no.
3. God gave us the gift of life. It’s gift! Enjoy it! Stop worrying about what God wants you to do.
4. God gives everyone the freedom of choice in life, that is part of the gift of life.
